| The Anacostia Waterfront Corporation (AWC) is an instrumentality of the Government of the District of Columbia charged with the development and revitalization of underutilized public lands along the Anacostia River and the advocacy and coordination of environmental and programming initiatives that promote river clean up and public awareness and enjoyment of the river. AWC was created by the Anacostia Waterfront Corporation Act of 2004, D.C. Official Code §2-1223.01 et seq. (as amended, the “Act”), as a corporate body and independent instrumentality of the District Government. AWC is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of nine public citizens, two District of Columbia officials and four non-voting Federal Government ex-officio representatives. |
